Paris in my heart – from Rossini to Piaf

Paris has always attracted all kinds of artists – also musicians. This autumn the Swedish Chamber Choir will light up the darkness with a dazzling program with music created in Paris!

We start in the salons of Mr Rossini in the 1860’s, where the brightest stars of the music world used to gather for some musical mingling – or to jam with the old master. Here are we treated with Rossini’s dramatic mini cantata about thunder, a duett for two cats and a vivid toast to the new year. Rippling piano tunes by Chopin and Fauré, brilliantly played by Henrik Kilhamn, and the first part is concluded with Gabrel Fauré’s exciting excursion to the orient – “Les djinns”.

After the pause we will tackle the music of the 20th century with music by Debussy, both “Trois chansons” and solo music for piano, and Poulenc’s mesmerizingly beautiful winter cantata “Un soir de neige”. We finalize in cabaret style with a few chansons by Édith Piaf.
